For very thin sheets of metal like stainless steel, a person will need nothing more than a pair of tin snips. Thin and medium gauge stainless steel requires different tools to cut and it is important to know which one works for which gauge.
To cut a sheet of thin stainless steel, lay it out and mark off the area you want to cut into. There are snips that will cut in a straight line and those which cut in curves either right or left. The type of cut a person gets will be determined by the type of shears used.
Put the edge of the stainless steel inside the jaws completely and make a cut without bringing the snips close. This will help to prevent there from being any jagged edges. It is important for a person to wear thick gloves and goggles to avoid any injury from flying shards or contact with the edge of the steel. Once the cut is complete, use sandpaper or a small fine grained file to gently rub away any coarse ends.
For cutting medium gauge steel, a circular saw may prove to be the best tool to use. With a variety of different blades, a circular saw can handle almost any thickness of stainless steel. The saws can be fitted with blades to provide a clean cut and if the steel is too thick, you can still use a cutting torch or laser.
When using a circular saw, lay the steel out on a sawhorse and use a piece of plywood to hold it in place. It is important to use a level to make a precise and straight line; someone can even use a marker to use as a guide. Next, place the blade at the start of the line needing to be cut and make sure it is properly aligned. Engage the circular saw power and make the cut using a slow and even motion, make sure the cut is clean and sand it to get rid of the rough edges.
Cutting metal is much simpler today than it has ever been before. With the various advancements made in the world of technology, people can take much of the labor out of making cuts in stainless steel and do it safely. Stainless steel and other metals are commonly used in many different projects.

By observing cnc plasma cut safety and following a few of the great examples above, you can do it yourself too.
